I'd rather spend the $0.50 in API credits than waste a couple hours of my time. How much is your time worth?

Well, it'd cost me about 10 minutes, and it wouldn't delete half my data. So... How much is your infrastructure worth?

Maybe you value the few cents (the .50c above seems more like a phrase than an actual value, that much actual cost would be the same as nearly a full days worth of a ChatGPT Plus subscription to combine some lists) over the 10 minutes but I'm not sure I follow why you'd give it access or control of half your data to pull data from public sources on the internet and give you a combined blocklist out of it?

My infrastructure is build from a git ansible repo that I tear down and rebuild regularly, so $0.

Did you take that time into your account of costs as well?

You're already using automation tools. Seems like you just don't... Want to learn... The tool that would save you hours of frustration, tomorrow or the day after.

It won't. And there is no reason to learn the intricacies of every little script that is written because there is not enough time in the day for that. If the script fails you feed claude the logs and tell it to fix it while working on the things that I actually enjoy working on and matter in the long run.

The countries overrun with third world migrants, over regulation and less individual rights than the crumbling US?

> Probably

Your government probably doing this is as probable as the US government not starting a foreign war for Israel.

> “AI as a chat bot” has always been cool and fun in sci-fi movies, but it’s the least imaginative real world use for it.

Most consumers don't understand the possibilities of this technology. They have been trained their whole lives, starting with K-12 government school that they work within the boxes they are given, that they do what they are told to at work and stay within the box, that Windows computer is a box they work within and cannot really change, that the iPhone they have has limits that they cannot go outside of, the apps they use, etc, etc.

The concept of "I use this app daily and I love it but these things bother me, so I'm going to ask Claude to find the source code, and build in the features and then push the new app to my phone" is something that doesn't even cross people's minds of 95% of the population. It's currently a niche thing that's being taken advantage of by tech nerds that live in the space, but it will slowly trickle down to more of the population over the next decade.

Wow, how smart of you to come up with this

I want the ability to grant specific apps root through Magisk. Tasker for example for tasks that change system level settings and adaway for system level adblocking, material files for accessing to root filesystem for pulling config files from apps, Swift Backups for backing up all my apps and their data.

* some apps.

Both of my banking apps work fine with a rooted GrapheneOS phone. If you want to have full control over your phone like you would a Linux laptop, to customize it to your own preferences and maximize privacy, there is nothing else gives you the same amount of control over the device that you bought and paid for.

The fact that people pay $1000 for a device and then not be able to fully uninstall pre-installed crapware nor fully block it from the internet is depressing.

GOS is not rooted by default - in fact, rooting breaks the GrapheneOS security model and is unsupported.

I don't care. It's my phone and I care more about my privacy and the ability to sandbox apps (useful every day) than I do about a border patrol agents trying to clone my phone. (Will statistically never happen to me)

I can guarantee you that they're going to spend MUCH MUCH more than that on support infrastructure, probably for the next couple of decades until the boomers die off. Trying to get your average boomer to use a password manager, let alone a passkey is next to impossible.

The actual solution is to cut government spending and rip out the death tax for everyone, not go down the slippery slope of stealing the private property of others. But people would rather keep focusing on the short term solution that doesn't actually solve the issue.

> Ideological Alignment

I too align and want to do business with people who's entire online existance is NOT centered around "Everyone who politically disagrees with me is a racist fascist and I want people to cause harm to them and I will ban them from my forums if they disagree at me at all about my politics"

Sweeping Nazi shit under the rug is one thing, sending them free money is even more pathetic.

Such a boring NPC response

The only thing wrong in the world is leftists believing they should be financially supported for vomiting their ideologies all over their projects. The day that GNOME goes bankrupt could not come fast enough.
