Ai native is only a term for the present moment. There is still skill in using ai. We are fast approaching where you ask the ai, and it does the task, there is no wrangling it

No not really, it’s able to fill it more gaps for sure but the way it fills them is totally random and almost always not what you want it to do

There are things I’ve made that I wouldn’t have made without AI. But I don’t feel like it’s “nerding out” or “tinkering”. I get the end result, but I don’t learn anything or become more capable in the process. As a result, I get very little satisfaction from it.

you just have to take the software to a higher level of abstraction... software that builds software. its different, but the tinkering is very much there, its just a massive paradigm shift

Many of those are getting addressed. Value types are in the works, generics specialization for primitives, and even type classes.

Right, but doesn't take away from the fact that Java maintains backwards compatibility and so all these legacy decisions will generally forever exist.
