For USB, if it can carry 65W+ of power to my laptop as well as the Keyboard/Mouse inputs, 4K/60Hz display and audio back to the monitor as well as KB/Mouse and perhaps some external storage or network adapter, that's a pretty amazing cable.
I also have preferences between my cables by the quality and aesthetic, I prefer some over others because they look or feel nicer even if in testing they contain the same conductors, but that's just ... me.
I currently have 3 such cables connected to my work laptop each sending 4K/60Hz video to each of my 3 x 4k monitors, audio to my soundbar and one of them is powering the laptop at 90W and sending my keyboard, mouse and webcam inputs back.
Generally no, you're far more likely to get something that DOESN'T do what's asvertised in my experience.
You can almost always tell the second it's in your hand; in order to do the high throughput stuff, 20Gb, 40Gb etc, the wire is much thicker and stiffer, it needs conductors for all of those contacts. Ive never counted but it's something like 20 of them vs 4 in a standard cable.
Of course always C to C; the A connectors with the extra contacts in between the normal USB 2 ones still aren't enough.
I just checked and there's 4 levels of data speed (including USB 4 Gen 4) and 3 levels of power (up to 240 W) but I wouldn't be surprised if that is an outdated answer.
This all sounds good, but the Government of one of the world's primary super powers (The United States) is currently unwilling to participate in fighting climate change, so any plan seems DOA without a major policy change on that front.
Agreed, and also Moscow sees this as a huge positive change. More ice-free ports, more arable land, plus avoiding action means they get to keep selling their major export.
Europe is now really stuck between two huge enemies, regarding climate. We can do a lot to prepare, we just need to wake tf up.

Yep, unfortunately the only fix would be a world government. But that will never happen. So everyone's going to reach for a bigger slice of pie at any expense no matter what happens, no matter how clear the evidence is. (I'm not necessarily saying a world government is a good idea, but it's the only way to solve climate change that I can see)

If that many people get angry, you can bet they're all going to be different people with different motivations. This is partly why revolutions tend to suck no matter how evil the regime was they overthrew; the US got extremely lucky with being able to postpone the post-revolution civil war for a century.
Yes, and all of them involve exercising your mind regularly. I could let LLMs do my personal projects for me and then try to make up the difference with brain teasers, language learning, etc. I choose to exercise my mind because I still love programming, including writing my own code.
I suspect that a lot of people who are going full hog on LLMs aren't actually making up the difference, and are simply offloading their thinking. I choose to not be one of those. I'll use them at work because they make me faster and most of the code is already not mine. It's a means to an end. My personal projects are for the fun and love of programming, not just to have some software in the end.
I think the rapid improvements in local models will make a $2,000/mo price point completely impossible to sustain. This feels like a race to the bottom.
