One reason is that launch is not as cheap as often stated.

Launch is cheap for SpaceX. But they still charge high prices for everyone else. It's often estimated that a Falcon 9 launch costs SpaceX $15-20m, but they charge $60m+ to customers.

Not like the US has precedent killing planeloads of Iranian passengers or anything like that.

AI technology was used to target Palestinian / Hamas targets (and often their families), ultimately there was a human behind the wheels that would do a thumbsup or down. You will still be spending that money. Trump wants to increase military spending by 50%. It has very little to do with overseas force projection.

Europe is not really a sleeping giant. People here are in denial about the decline of the west (as shown by downvotes) but Europe is simply not the power it used to be. Just look at the GDP of Europe as a a proportion of global GDP. It has been the slowest growing region for decades.

Hence "sleeping".

It feels like a loss though, since the money is in your account and then deducted from it. There is also the lost sale, since you can no longer sell the shoes and cannot make the revenue you expected to earn.
