The difference being this is now officially landing on OpenJDK, not a preview build that one has to additionally download.

Also the final implementation is quite different from what happened 5 or 2 years ago, based exactly on the gathered experience, from the folks that actually tried to use it, and the team experiences with existing projects running on modified JVMs.
